About the Camps

The curtain is going up for this fun-filled week of performing arts! Join us for a week-long camp focusing on the three main components of musical theatre, singing, dancing, and acting! Your camper will have a blast as they sing and dance to Broadway hits! Students will build confidence playing improv games, working on group acting scenes, dancing, singing, and so much more! Let us take you on this exciting musical theatre adventure as you reach for the stars and are Broadway Bound! There will be an exciting showcase for the families on Friday, July 15.  

About the Camp Director:

Vicki is a professional choreographer, director, producer, teacher, and performer. She has been dancing since the age of 2 and her performing travels have taken her throughout the US, Europe, and South America. She has appeared in HBO Special, National Tours, Regional theatre, TV series, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City. Her Theatre performing credits include, How to Succeed, Guys & Dolls, Carousel, Cabaret, Sweet Charity, Music Man, King & I, Fiddler on the Roof, Mame, and more. Rising Grades 3-8
July 11–15
9:00 a.m.–3 p.m. 

Monarch Rocks! is a music camp for Beginners and Intermediate students. No experience needed! Our student-focused instruction will include making music, songwriting, and having fun while learning. During the week-long camp, students will work on instruments like guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, or vocals. Plus, they will work collaboratively writing songs and playing music in a band. There will be a showcase for the families on Friday, July 22.

About the Camp Director:

Sean Lane maintains a full schedule of gigs and concerts throughout the region for the past 20 years as a solo pianist or in various groups, including Bay Jazz Project. He has performed at Inauguration events for the past three presidents and performed at major venues. He is a music teacher at The Phoenix Academy in Annapolis and was a semi-finalist for Teacher of the Year in AACPS for 2018-2019.

Rising Grades 3-8
July 18–22
9:00 a.m.–3 p.m. 

On Day 1, campers will begin the process of putting on a show!  

This is a GREAT opportunity for beginning and experienced performers to practice all parts of the production process in a safe environment. From practicing audition skills to the curtain call at the end, campers will build skills in all elements of a musical theatre performance!   

This *two-week* musical theater camp culminates in a full performance of The Jungle Book for friends and families, to be held at Monarch Academy Annapolis on Friday, August 5.

About the Camp Director:

Karin Abbott has been teaching for 22 years and is the Arts Integration Specialist at Monsignor Slade Catholic School and is the former Arts Integration Specialist at Monarch Academy Annapolis. She also teaches music and directs the theater department for students ages 4-14 at the school. She has been providing musical theater workshops and summer camps to children and teens in Anne Arundel County for 13 years. She received her certification in Arts Integration from Towson University in 2016 and is committed to educating the whole child through the use of creative and performing arts.

Have a MERRY time! During this week-long camp, campers will explore fairy tales and perform them. Campers will be introduced to theatre, speaking, and stage presence while they practice reading comprehension strategies. This camp is perfect for your tiny thespian, curious about drama. There will be a showcase for families on Friday, August 12th. Please take note of the grade levels and times for this camp. 

About the Camp Director:

Meg Nemeth is leading the Merry Tales program. She is the arts integration teacher at Monarch Global Academy Laurel. Additionally, she teaches middle school theater and leads the school’s drama club in full-scale plays and musicals. She has a master’s degree in Arts Integration through Towson University’s MAIAI program. The arts are her heart and soul. She has dedicated her life to helping that shy kid who felt they didn’t have a voice, learn to sing and shout to the world!

Before & After Care  

Before and aftercare is available through The Y In Central Maryland. Before camp care begins at 7 a.m. and after camp care ends at 6 p.m. Registration and fees will be posted soon.

  • Before and after care available to campers born between September 1, 2008 and September 1, 2017. 
  • Before camp care begins at 7 a.m. and after camp care ends at 6 p.m.
  • If your child is attending The Y program before and after camp, please see the Y’s policies for arrival and departure. 
  • Program options include full-time (5 days a week) or part-time (3 days a week). Choose from before care, after care, or both before & after care. 
  • Financial assistance is available. In most cases, The Y also accepts Child Care Subsidy (CCS) vouchers.

Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures   

Campers for Broadway Bound, Monarch Rocks, and It’s Showtime may arrive at 8:30 if they are eating breakfast. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. Please plan to arrive for pick-up at 2:45 p.m., dismissal will occur at 3 p.m. This allows time for you to sign your child out. 

Campers for Merry Tales 1 should arrive at 8 a.m. if eating breakfast.  Classes begin at 8:30 a.m.  Campers for Merry Tales 2 should arrive at 12:15.  Classes begin at 12:30. 

Merry Tales has 2 pick-up times this year:

Merry Tales 1 (morning): Arrive for pick-up at 11:15 for 11:30 dismissal.

Merry Tales 2 (afternoon): Arrive for pick-up at 3:15 for 3:30 dismissal.

All children must be signed out by an authorized person. Parents/guardians, if there is an emergency and you are running late, please call us so we may let your child know you are coming but are running behind, or if you are not able to pick up your child and someone else will. 

If your child is attending The Y program before and after camp, please follow the Y’s policies for arrival and departure. 

Camp Information & Policies    

Parent Orientation on First Day of Camp:
Orientation for all new students and parents of Transformation Theatre Company will be held the first Monday of each Camp at 8:30 a.m. Once at Monarch Academy Annapolis, please report to the Gymnasium and the Camp registration desk to check-in. There will be a brief meeting about camp, and to meet your camp directors and camp counselors.  

Meals & Snacks:
Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge by Anne Arundel County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services.  

Campers are encouraged to bring their own water bottles or snacks.  Campers may carry their water bottles around camp as we change for each class. Please make sure you have your name on your snacks and water and especially disposable water bottles.  We ask that campers do not share their food with others as some children may have specific food allergies.  

What to Wear:
One T-shirt provided for each registrant to wear on performance day, additional T-shirts are available for $15 each. 

Wear comfortable clothes that are appropriate for movement—tights, leotards, and tap shoes are not necessary (however, please feel free to bring any dance shoes if your child already has them). Girls may wear bike shorts or leggings, sneakers, and socks. No skirts as this may hinder some dance movements. No jewelry as it may get broken or lost. Boys should wear T-shirts, athletic shorts, and sneakers. No sandals or clogs for both girls and boys. 

Additional Information & Policies:

  • We do not administer any type of medications to children unless specified in writing at time of registration. We will have a small first aid kit on site, mostly with adhesive bandages. 
  • Transportation is not provided. 
  • No electronics are allowed at camp. 

Cost: 

  • Broadway Bound and Monarch Rocks are $250 per student per week.  It’s Showtime is $500 per student for two weeks, must attend both weeks.  Merry Tales 1 & Merry Tales 2 are $175 per student per week.

  • Registration fees will be returned in full if the camp is unable to run due to COVID-19 health reasons or if a particular camp strand does not meet its minimum enrollment requirements. 
  • Scholarships are available on a sliding scale for Monarch Academy students. 
  • Siblings are eligible for a 10% discount. 
  • Payment is through our registration system and by credit card only.
