The Children’s Guild’s Monarch Academy Glen Burnie Public Charter School held a Pi Day Contest for all of its students on Wednesday, March 14th. The Pi Day Contest was sponsored by the Bowie Baysox baseball team in recognition of the mathematical constant “Pi” to help foster an increased interest in mathematics among students to improve student success.
On March 14th, all of the teachers held the competition in their classrooms and coached the students on the best way to reach their goals. Out of 267 students who participated in Pi Day this year, 5th grader, Ifeoluwa Adeleye from Ms. Kandi’s math class was declared the winner at 361 digits. Ifeoluwa will go on to represent Monarch Academy Glen Burnie at the Pi Day Game on Friday, April 20th and will attend a winners ceremony at 6:30pm where she will receive a pre-game award from the Baysox.
All of the students that participated in the Pi Day Contest received a free ticket to Pi Day Recognition Night on Friday, April 20th to watch the Baysox face off against the Akron Rubber Ducks.
