2019-2020 Monarch Academy Application

Students applying after November 30, 2018 will automatically be placed on the waitlist and will be offered seats as they are available in the order the applications are received, pending the availability of seats at each grade level.

In order to qualify for Monarch Academy, your child must meet the following:

  • Your children must qualify to be an Anne Arundel County Student.
  • Your children’s home school must be in the Annapolis feeder system.
  • Children entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 1, 2019.
  • Children must be entering Kindergarten through Fifth Grade for the 2019-20 school year

On February 27, 2019, children living in the South River and Southern school districts may also apply for entrance.  Students will be placed on a first come, first serve basis, depending on the timestamp on the online application.  Seats are open on a grade level basis.

To apply to Monarch Academy Public Charter School, complete one online application for each child.

When you submit your online application form, you will be asked for your child’s 6-digit student number (the one used for lunch). Contact your child’s school to access this number if you do not know it.

The pass code is your child’s birthday entered as yyyymmdd. If you are new to Anne Arundel County Public Schools, you will have to create a new account and will then be assigned a temporary number.

After submitting your application you will receive an email confirming the application was submitted properly, please save this email,  you will need this  information to complete when the lottery is posted.

If you have two children applying to Monarch Academy or you already have a child at Monarch Academy and their sibling(s) is applying this year. Read Monarch Academy’s Sibling Policy.

Monarch Academy Wait List

If your child is not admitted to Monarch Academy through the lottery, he or she will automatically be placed on a wait list in order of the lottery. When openings become available, students on the wait list will be offered the seats that become vacant based on wait list position.

Monarch Academy Kindergarten & New to the County Admission Requirements

To register children entering kindergarten or if your child has not attended an Anne Arundel County School in the past; after your child has been offered a seat to Monarch Academy, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Two proofs of residence:
    1. Mandatory: apartment lease, mortgage statement or deed
    2. One of the following: utility bill, current bank statement, property tax, W-2  form, social security check, current pay voucher or domestic relations check
  • Original Birth certificate
  • Completed Physical
  • Completed immunization record
  • Social Security Card
  • Documentation that the caregiver has legal custody of the child
  • Parents Legal Identification

Kindergarten students registering for 2017-2018 school year must be 5 years old by September 1, 2017. Kindergarten registration will be held at Monarch Academy, those selected will be notified by email, and information will be posted on the school website

Students who already attend AACPS and are entering First–Fifth Grade Admission Requirements

If your child has been selected in the lottery, is already an AACPS student and is entering first through seventh grade, you will need to provide:

  • Documentation that the caregiver has legal custody of the child
  • Proof of residency in Anne Arundel County (listed above)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Legal Identification
