Monarch Academy is a tuition-free, publicly funded AACPS contract school, located in Annapolis and serving students grades K-5 in Anne Arundel County that honors each child’s uniqueness through a safe, nurturing and creative environment. Proud to be an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school. New school day hours for the 2019-20 school year are 8:30 a.m. – 2:55 p.m.
Today, Monarch Academy Annapolis celebrated the school’s new outdoor classroom, nature-inspired play space for younger children and webbed climbing structure, basketball court, and soccer field for older students with a dedication ceremony.
Steuart Pittman, Anne Arundel County executive, addressed the dedication ceremony and commended Monarch Academy Annapolis for their work to promote outdoor exercise, play, and learning. The new outdoor spaces were made possible through a $500,000 grant from Anne Arundel County.
“Our new outdoor classroom and play spaces will inspire our children and empower them to grow as learners, as people and as global citizens,” said Andrew L. Ross, president and CEO of The Children’s Guild Alliance, which operates Monarch Academy Annapolis. “The spaces support our curriculum themes of asking who we are, how the world works and how we can share our planet.”
